Education:
MSc Sound Design, University of Edinburgh (completed August 2006)
This course was a fantastic experience, covering sound for both interactive and fixed media and helping me to understand the challenges, rewards and limitations inherent in the wider field of sound design. It was taught, practical and deadline-driven, with an emphasis on outcomes and evaluating current and future technologies, as well as encouraging strength and relevance in ideas and theory. It also cultivated the ability to organize work within groups to complete a project. Our lecturers included many professional practitioners working within various industries that employ sound design and music. There was also scope for individual research on the course. I used the opportunity to investigate spatial and particularly interactive binaural audio and sound in interactive drama. Amongst the skills I gained on the course was the ability to prototype interactive systems using MAX/MSP.

Post-production sound and sound design and music for the film 'Just To Get A Rep'
(November 2006 – December 2006)
I edited and mixed sound for a documentary, produced by independent production company ‘Accidental Media’, about the relationship between graffiti and hip-hop culture. I was also responsible for additional sound and music for several sequences within the film. The film was broadcast three times on RFO, a television station which broadcasts within France and French speaking countries.

Self-employed Guitar Tutor (September 2003 – December 2004)
I offered private music tuition in technique, theory, composition and improvisation on the guitar and electric bass guitar on a one-to-one and small group basis. I feel the experience was very useful in polishing my interpersonal skills and organizational abilities. It relied on me communicating my ideas to a wide range of people quickly and effectively. It also provided me with the time and opportunity to develop my musicianship by playing semi-professionally in various group situations and being involved in producing and developing local talent.

I undertook the administrative and practical tasks of running and maintaining the business: including ordering books and instruments, demonstrating and selling stock and other duties of customer service and inventory management.

The aspect of this job I enjoyed most was the interaction with customers and the access to the large stock of music, films and games.
Assistant Manager, Stonell (January 2002 – November 2002)
This position at Stonell taught me about the responsibilities and logistics of running and marketing a business, including the ability to build up a good relationship with a varied client base and required that sales were closed quickly and successfully. It also needed good administrative and creative display skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate a range of complex and specialized information to a wide market.
